With 20 years in the performance and entertainment industry Dunedin-based Doug is one of the busiest producers, directors and entertainment practitioners in the country having amassed an impressive array of drama, television, concert and musical theatre credits.
As a producer and director he has been responsible for over 60 national and international musical theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show, Les Miserables, The Producers, The Addams Family, The Buddy Holly Story, JC Superstar, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Cabaret, Chess, Me & My Girl, 42nd Street and A Chorus Line. He toured New Zealand & Asia in the international casts of Chicago & Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
2014 saw him produce and direct the sellout season of Mamma Mia in Dunedin whilst in 2016 he was responsible for the staging and directing of the sell-out production of Grease the Arena Spectacular Live for which he won multiple awards. 2017 saw him co-produce and direct ‘Mary Poppins’ at the Regent Theatre Dunedin along with another season of Mamma Mia in Queenstown.
In 2018 he directed the international blockbuster ‘Priscilla – Queen of the Dessert – The Musical’ and another season of Grease: The Arena Spectacular Live in Invercargill. In 2019 he directed the global sensation'WICKED' in both Dunedin & Invercargill.
Television credits include regular guest appearances on Xena Warrior Princess, Street Legal, Shortland Street, The Pretender and Passion in Paradise. As a television host he fronted the high profile weekly draw of Lotto for 2 ½ years as well as The Lounge, 3 seasons of Destination New Zealand, the award winning reality game show - The Vodafone V24 Challenge and the Living Channels travel show ‘Hit the Road’.
He was Producer & Artistic Director of the community opening of the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin (‘Otago Daily Times - Big Night In’) which drew an estimated audience of 22,000 and one of the founders of the Queenstown Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas - Stadium Spectacular. He was the founder of the Otago Southland Theatre Awards (OSTA’s) an event acknowledging excellence and talent within our regional musical theatre community.
With an envious reputation within the lower South Island as a market leader for corporate entertainment solutions, tours, concerts and theatrical experiences, his company DKCM Ltd now provides live entertainment and event & production management for upwards of 100 corporate and ticketed events nationally each year.
